The room

Brick, timber, tall windows, a floor that holds a crowd.

The studio occupies the third floor of an old building on SW 2nd Avenue. Morning light comes through sheer curtains. There is a lounge for before and after, and tea on the cart.

Why Pause exists

Portland is full of extraordinary independent teachers. Most of them don't need an employer.
They need a room.

Practitioners join Pause as members and make the studio the home of their own work. Each designs their offerings, sets their prices, and keeps what they earn.

Pause holds what surrounds that work: the room, the shared calendar, and the company of others practicing seriously down the hall. The collective sustains the space, and the space sustains the practice.
